Letters From The Queen's been a while since I have written one of these so I guess it's time to get on the ball since there is a lot that I want to say to the members of my kingdom.

To My King: I know that recently I haven't really been showing it, but I really am so very proud of you for having the determination to get out there and look for a new job. All of that hard work really paid off and now look at you- about to start your part time job on Monday. Great job! I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't worried though. I really just want you to do your best in all you do, Babe. For us, yes but mostly for yourself. I want you to be able to look in the mirror and be proud of yourself. Proud of your family, and proud of your house. The other stuff is just icing on the cake. Let's get that cake baking though and keep up the good work.

I know it's also tough trying to keep up with your words and language. I so very much want to help you in learning words, but I don't want to pressure you away. I hope that one day you decide that having the help of your other half isn't as bad as you think it is. Together we can succeed Juan...separated...I'm not so sure of. Always know what I'm here for you, Baby.

Have a great first day on Monday!

To My Princess: First off...Mommy is so proud of you! Today you did your lesson book with Love and you flew through it as if you were already in kindergarten. I'm so proud that you learned what the word different and the word same means. That is just getting you ready for things you will learn in another year. Mommy isn't ready for you to go to school yet. Stay the little lady that I cuddled and did everything for.

I guess that's not realistic though, huh? Not with how you get up and go potty in the morning or put your clothes and shoes on yourself. Riding a bike? No problem! Every day you find something new to learn about or to do on your own. We are still trying to get you to learn more words and to read better too. That's not to say that you don't already know words. You can read DONUT from a mile away and conveniently when we don't need donuts. PANCAKE is a word you can read immediately as well. Now we just need to keep with it with other words. Don't worry...Mommy and Love have it handled. You'll be just fine.

In the meantime, you just keep being your sweet amazing self. I know that will be easy to do too!

To Myself:  One step forward and two steps back. That seems to be the theme that is going on in your life lately. You get a job interview, get told that you are great then don't get the job. You get your money to take a drivers test, then have to use it for something else more important. It can easily get you down, but try to keep your head up. This is just something you have to be patient for; the happiness that you seem to want all the time. But as you are keeping your head up, make sure you understand that you have so many things here that make you just as happy. A roof over your head, a hard working husband, a intelligent and loving little girl and a supportive mother. That's pretty nice right?

Things are tempting you all over to get to your computer and your camera. Are you ready to bring them out again? At least the camera? The computer constantly in front of you will keep you from doing the things you need to do (ex. cleaning, playing with Sofia) so maybe a little more time away from that will be best. But maybe it's time to take your camera out to take photos that you could be missing out on. Think about it.

Good job on your A1C! Keep up the good work!

Bringing Things Up To Speed For January

Just a filler photo until I put my computer back up! Lovely though!

I know...I know. January has been a bit sparce lately in the way of posts but this first month of the year has had so many ups and down that it makes my head spin! The reason of the lack of posts is that I had decided to put my camera and my computer away in the closet  in a moment of depression, anger and confusion in my life. At that time, I really felt like all the time over the years I put into my photography business and my writing were all for nothing. That I wasn't going in the right direction or didn't have the right support. It was a decision that was hard on me but I must say has been been good to me as well. Because of this decision, I have spent more time with Sofia and have gotten some more cleaning done without the distraction of my computer. So while I miss my things, I don't think I'm in a hurry to get them back. Don't worry though, I'll be back to post like I usually do...sooner or later.

Now then! Time to share about the positive side of our lives! Because for every bad event that's been going on, a good thing follows behind it. I just hope this pattern keeps on and not the other way around.

1. The Sickies are Getting Better- I have to admit, it was pretty gloomy here in the Ortiz kingdom with everybody (with El Rey as an exception) sick as dogs. But we have been making improvements and are doing much better! Sofia is ripping and running around like beforeand just on occasion has a cough or two.

It sounds so much better than that barking cough she had a couple of weeks ago (poor baby) so this mama is relieved. Mom is still a bit sick; the nebulizer is still going daily so I hope that things get better there with her. On the bright side, she can go out and do errands. I'm also feeling better. My infection is gone and my congestion is minimal but I still have some ways to go in feeling 100%

2. Sofia's First Dentist Visit- As much as I would love to write a whole post about this in my own view, I wasn't there first hand to see it. La Princesa and I both had appointments around the same time and so El Rey had to go in my stead. But he told me that she did great! She didn't cry, she got right in the chair and was good and quiet as they did her teeth which they have also reported as great! No cavities, no decay and good shape. We were some proud parents for sure! The dark gums she has are pretty much a genetic thing. We will keep up the good work so that this little lady will have good teeth in the long run!

3. Health News- During my own appointment, I had some blood work taken for my A1C test. (For those that don't know, an A1C test determines your blood sugar for the past three months. When I was diagnosed as a diabetic, I was at a 6.7) The doctor was happy to report that my A1C was 5.8! Normal blood sugar in a non-diabetic is 5.6! I was so freaking floored. All of my hard work of working out with my dad and eating right has put me in the right direction! I have also lost 10 pounds since the last time I was weighed at the doctors office. (Current weight: 210) This lady right here is doing it right! (Insert applause and pat on the back) I do plan to keep working on this and try to lose more weight. I want to get to 186 at least before trying to do more. The only thing that was bad was the fact that my heart rate has been pretty high as of late, so my doc has put me on a heart monitor for the week (it comes off tomorrow). Hopefully we'll find out what is going on in my ticker and then maybe...just maybe the hubs and I can talk about baby #2 because I have been given the okay to TTC.

4. Juan's New Job- That's right! Juan has been hired at a new job as maintenance at a nursing facility. This job has better hours and pays 3 more dollars than where he was before! That is so wonderful and is so God. I thank him so much for watching after my husband and giving him what he needs. There are still some kinks though into when he starts working because he's waiting for the guy before him to leave. But I'm going to keep this in God's hands and have faith that he's going to make things work. Things might get easier for us in this kingdom!

5. Assassins' Creed Addiction- I'm a video game person and I'm definitely not ashamed to say so. I'm usually playing Final Fantasy or Lego Games but recently, I have found a new kind of game series that I have fallen in love with this month. Assassin's Creed. I started playing the first and now I'm hooked. Currently I'm playing the third in the series and it is the best one so far! Probably my favorite ever. But I'll look into getting new ones maybe when taxes come in. The series itself is pretty complicated so if you are interested, then look about the gist of it here

6. Juan's Birthday- It's that time again! Time for the king of our kingdom to celebrate another year of life. His 31st to be exact. I can't believe that he and I are both in our thirties. Stuns me. We are planning to have a small birthday party for him here and making him a cake. Won't be as big has his birthday party last year but we won't let him do without.

That's pretty much all that's been happening this month so far. We have so much more in this year to explore with so with all this in one month, I'm excited to see what the rest of them have to offer!
How is your January going?

Learn Something New || Washing Stuffed Animals

If you have children then maybe you're like me with thousands of stuffed animals all over your home. Okay, maybe not a thousand but dammit, it feels like it, right? Let's be honest though, how many of you wash those dingy stuffed lovies that your little one loves oh so much?

CONFESSION: I don't all the time but now that I have found out how to clean them the right away, there maybe a change in frequency because who knows whats all over those bears, kitties and bunnies that our children like to hold right to their faces?

I was always so worried that the bear being washed would be torn in the washer or dryer and so I held back. No worries though to those of you thinking the same. With these instructions, you'll have your teddies like Pooh here nice and clean before nini time!

1. Put stuffed animal in a pillowcase to protect it.

2. Wash it in the machine on a gentle cycle.

3. Use cold water

4. Clean with a mild detergent

5. Put it in the dryer and run it with a tennis ball.

I hope that this is something that will benefit you and your youngins in the long run. Let's keep these stuffed animals looking the best that they can!

Kingdom of Sickies!

Christmas- it's the most wonderful time of the year, right? Well, while Santa did bring the Ortiz Kingdom some good gifts, it also seemed that a tornado of sickness was also brought our way! To this day all of us (with the exception of El Rey) have been sick. I don't know what is going on! Bugs flying around in the air because everywhere I look, somebody is sick as well. I hope you are feeling okay, whoever is reading this cause damn...the struggle is seriously real here.

Here is the scoop on us:

Me: I was okay on Christmas but was starting to feel pains as if I was having a bladder infection. I went to the er and found out it wasn't but another infection so I got some medicine for that. I also have been fighting a combo of sinus headaches and congestion along with a high heartbeat that I got some medication for too. I'm slowly starting to feel better but still got a persistent cough.

Mom: My mom doesn't do too well with the changing of seasons or wishy washy weather as it always messes with her asthma. She's been really sick since Christmas as well, laying out in the bed, medicating herself often. Her nebulizer has been going non-stop so I know that it's been difficult for her to breathe. Now she's feeling somewhat better I believe... so...hopefully she'll get through this.

Sofia: The most sick of us is the littlest of us. Sofia actually had a bug at first right after Christmas, throwing up and just having a hard time. She was fine for a little while and then two sundays ago surprised us with a high fever. Her tiny body was doing some work to fight whatever was making her ill. This whole week she has been off and on with fever and finally we took her to the hospital when she starting getting that croupy cough. Turns out she has a little bit of bronchitis and an ear infection. She started her antibiotics last night and before bed, scared Mommy with a 103 fever. After getting the okay from the nurse, she got some Motrin and rested up. We are still in wait of her getting better.

Us at the ER. La Princesa doesn't look happy. Mommy's not either.

So as you can see, it's been a tough time here in the kingdom and that's why I have been a bit lax in writing after the new year. Here's hoping El Rey stays healthy...he's doing a good job so far! Please keep us in your thoughts and we'll be up and going in no time!

Royal Holiday || Our New Years 2016

I know it's seven days after the holiday itself but I wanted to share how our New Years Eve went! Other than having a job interview at a temp agency that day, nothing really happened during the day. But in the evening after Juan got off of work, we first went to visit with our neighbors, Josh and Vanessa who were having a party at their own house. We couldn't stay; we had other plans but it was nice to wish them a good new  year.

We went to Alicia and Juan's house to wait for 2016 to make it's apperance. We ate tamales and lasagna for dinner and then played some games while getting drunk. I had a few drinks but not enough to be wasted. Sofia played with her cousins with their Christmas toys they got. Now I have to say...this...was not the most exciting new years eve. It was actually like two different parties in one.

We had the younger folks (myself, Juan, Chapo, Ruben, Bianca, Fatima and Maria) just playing Scattergories, listening to music and dancing while trying to have a good time and the older folks ( the in-laws, tios and tias) were in the living room just watching old Spanish movies and sleeping. UGH...if this our future as old people, I'm not ready for it!

So we've decided that we're going to have New Years Eve at our home this year. I mean cause when we put our minds to it, we can really come up with some parties.

At midnight I got to kiss my two loves, wish my sister Alisha a happy birthday and was able to take that awesome photo up there. We only stayed at the in-laws house for a little while because El Rey's dad was working that day. It was different not partying, but all in all it was a nice time. I hope your New Years were excellent like ours was.

Here's to 2016! May it be awesome for all of us!
