I can't believe in just a few days, July will be over. Wasn't it just the fourth?! It feels like it was! Time is just going so fast and guess what? Before we know it, it will be Christmas. To tell y'all the truth, this heat is really making me think of cooler weather and snow days, however rare they are. This year I'm going to try to make things different and do more holiday themed things with Sofia. She's getting to that age where she could possibly understand who Santa is. That makes Christmas time much more fun! I want to do something based on this pin. So that each day, Sofia can pick out something to do.
* Build a gingerbread house
* Make Christmas cookies as gifts
* Make a Secret Santa gift for a random family member
* Go and view Christmas lights in the neighborhoods
* Elf on a Shelf!!!
* Watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and other Christmas movies
* Make homemade ornaments
* Take Sofia to see the tree lighting downtown
* Central Market Lighting
* Christmas at Stockyards
* Make hot cocoa
* Dance party to holiday songs
* Read out loud holiday books from the library
* Make a fire and relax
* Buy Christmas pajamas
* Make our first set of blessing bags for the homeless
This is just a few, but it's a lot more than I have ever done for the holiday season. Many Decembers past, I've been just low key; doing decorations for my tree or just managing to catch the end of White Christmas. I want to up my game so keep a look out in December to see how many we get done! Here's hoping for all of them!
Question time! How many of you out there are celebrating Christmas in July? Anything that you plan to do for the Christmas season? Let me know because I can't wait to hear all about it!

#26- Name one place you'd love to visit one day
There are plenty of places in the world...hell, even just in the USA that I would love to go and visit. But when I get asked this question, there is only one place that immediately pops up and that place is Japan.
My first choice wasn't always Japan, however. When I was younger I would have picked Australia as my place to go to. While I still have the land down under on my list of places, Japan has moved into the number one spot.
I want to see the beauty of the tiny island is one reason but really its to see the culture and to try the food. Japan is just so full of life and from what I see when I read up about it, you never know what you'll see, especially in Tokyo. The Japanese are always thinking up new and awe-inspiring things that you just won't find here in America. That's why I want to go! Take it all in and then be able to come back and just say, "Damn, I went to Japan."
When my mother and I went to Disney World for my 21st birthday, we went to Epcot and the World Showcase. I pretty much lived in the Japan section! I even bought a necklace there that had the same symbol as the scroll in above picture. This is the word "Dream" and I wore that necklace every day to remind me to go for my dreams. I still have the dreams to be a successful writer, photographer and blogger but now...I'm going to add going to Japan to that list as well.
My mother says that for my 30th, she's going to put a trip to Japan on layaway though I'm not sure if that's still in the future. But if it is...you best believe I'm going to be prepared to go in the Ortiz reina style!
Are you wishing for a place to go to? Let me know!

Pretty much what you get in Lego Jurassic World. It's HILARIOUS!
#24- Tell us about the last movie you saw in theaters
The last move I saw was the awesome Jurassic World. I had been anticipating this movie for years ever since I saw that it was coming on Tumblr. I had planned to see it with my dinosaur loving brother-in-law, Ruben, but we didn't get to and I went with el rey instead. I was instantly hooked with the idea of the park finally being open but was hoping that would be more interesting than the second and third movies. It didn't disappoint and I found myself laughing and sitting at the edge of my seat, especially at the end. I'm not going to spoil it but if you are a fan of Jurassic Park then yeah, it's a pretty good ending.
After seeing the movie and feeling quite pleasant about it, I was even more thrilled to find out that there was a Lego Jurassic World video game. I'm a gamer if you guys haven't noticed in my previous posts and I'm quite the fan of the adorable and hilarious games that Lego releases. If there are any gamer mommies out there or anybody who is looking for a cute game for their littles then I definitely recommend buying this one. It's worth it!
So basically that's the only movie I've seen this summer. I really need to start going to see more with Juan because we used to do that so often before parenthood set in. It was a sacrifice, but we'll find that time again. After all...soon Sofia will be huge and we'll be wondering when she got to that point!

While I do love doing the Kingdom 30 all month long...it does it a bit monotonous and when it gets like that, I forget to do them or I just pick and choose answers that I want to do. Call me a blog challenge cheater if you want, but hey...it is what it is *insert huge smile here*
I have noticed lately that I've been slacking on my photography skills because I've either been in a writing mood or I've just been in a slump. So yesterday morning, I decided to get on the ball to see if I remembered what I learned from the Clickin Mom's class that I took. Sofia was all too happy to be the model of the moment while she ate her banana for a small breakfast snack. We don't have a lot of windows in our house *insert sad face* so our lighting is mediocre. We hope to change that in the future when we are able to do some renovations, that I'll talk about in a way future post. But despite the lighting I was pretty happy with what came out of the photos.
She is feeling that banana.
If you haven't noticed, but hopefully you have, Sofia's hair is not so curly as it usually is. That's cause Mommy finally realized that she needed to comb her hair as often as possible at night (new mom here-still learning) I don't wash it every day; it frizzes something awful. But I've found that organic coconut oil from Trader Joe's is helping it to look moisturized and it's more easier to manage. She's not a fan of getting her hair done, because her hair gets a lot of tangles but it has to be done or she'll be the next model for the Pampers "I feel pretty" commercial.
She wanted me to take a photo of her toys for some reason. What baby wants...
I still have some work to do with my camera and better understanding it but when I get beautiful photos like this, it makes it worthwhile.

I have waited for this moment. I am officially 30 years old today. Wow...just floors me really that I have made it through that many years of life. I can still just as vividly remember things from when I was three years old and still...I've lived 30 years of existence. I have been feeling off about this birthday though...not feeling like was as special as it should be. I mean...isn't 30 an important birthday or did I miss a memo saying that it was demoted to a regular birthday? Anyway...Juan took care of that feeling for me by taking me to GameStop to get some of my favorite games preowned. He was so disappointed that he couldn't be here with me on my birthday despite him asking for the the two days off. He made up for it with those games. I truly love him because he could have just said, "No, babe...only the two you asked for." But when I told him that I couldn't chose between a couple of them, he just waved it off and said, "Buy them all.." So awesome...
Here are the games I got:
1. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD
2. Final Fantasy XIII-2
3. Lightning Returns
4. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix 1.5
5. Kingdom Hearts Final Mix 2.5
I was happy to get them because majority of those games are games you can only play on Playstation 2. So this made things a lot easier with the PS3 we have.
That wasn't the only gift I got. I actually got a couple more from my mom. Who gave me these amazing rainbow colored roses and two awesome t-shirts with bible scriptures on the back. I felt so great knowing that she got that for me. My dad's gift was the gift of not having to pay back the money he spent on my new car. Greatness!
After Mom came back home from work, I got dressed and we had dinner over at IHOP with Kim and my grandmother. It was nice and my aunt paid for my meal. Another great birthday present.
This birthday was pretty quiet, but it was so much better than I thought it would be, thanks to the little things of love given to me from people I adore. My birthday party isn't until the 25th because a lot of people couldn't make it due to schedule conflicts. So I'll keep you updated on that at a later time.
Do I feel any different as a 30 year old. The honest truth is no. I really just feel the same as I did as I turned 20. But that doesn't mean I won't have changes to my life this time around. I am going to try to do thing differently in my life this time around. Hell, I got 10 more years to do so, I better get on the ball.
In ending I want to say happy birthday to all my birthday twins out there and I hope you have an awesome birthday!
16. What is your favorite Disney Princess movie?
When I get this question, I always want to say Princess and the Frog, but seeing as it came out in 2009, I haven't really had as much time with it as others I have already seen so I will pick the The Little Mermaid. I got the movie when I was four and was instantly dawn into the world of mermaids songs and romance. I have seen the other two movies and care for them just as much. Isn't Ariel just adorable in that picture of there. This clip is from the third movie, Ariel's Beginning. If you haven't seen it, check it out with your littles. It's worth the time.
I'm also a fan of Tangled too, but still it's a relatively new movie.
Any of you have a favorite Disney Princess movie? Do tell!

15. Tell about your favorite junk food
Cake! I can't stress enough how much I love cake. Not even just the birthday cake kind either. I love making cakes from the box too!
I love yellow cake with chocolate frosting. For flavor reasons and for sentimental reasons too. My Nanny used to make these sorts of cakes for no reason at all but to make them. I adored her for that because she always made sure that we were happy with little things like this. She would make the cake and have the house smelling all sweet inside before frosting it and putting it in a crystal cake tray. Whenever people would come over, they were free to eat as much of it as they wanted. She didn't care, she just wanted us to eat it. So that's my reason for liking this cake so much. Oh and because it's soooo good.
As long as I have cake...I'm a happy reina!
