New Changes Coming in July 2015!

July marks a new decade for me. I turn 30! So in my mind...changes are going to happen and for the better if it's the last thing I do. I want to start by telling you all that Ruling the Ortiz Kingdom is going to have a brand new look! I've been literally burning my brain out doing my new layout all on my own so I'm pretty proud of it. It's debut will be on July 1st so keep a look out for it and let me know what you think! For now though...I'll tease you with a preview of my new signature. See you soon!

Our Fathers Day Weekend

I just want to say that my daughter truly has the best father ever. Not once in her three years of life has my husband ever done her wrong nor neglected her and I truly believe in my heart that he will never do so. It warms my heart to see them playing together, eating together, watching tv together or taking naps together. God has truly blessed me with this man for my daughter and I will continue to be thankful for him every day I can have ability to do so. We love you, Babe! Keep up the good work and Happy Fathers Day!

This paragraph was made on Facebook but it is the darn truth! My husband truly excels when it come to fatherhood. Yes, he's a busy man, working to keep our house going and to feed us, but that still doesn't stop him from coming home from said work and giving Sofia a little cuddle or to play tag around the living room with her. She loves him sooo much. In fact...sooo much is an understatement. I just had to make sure that his weekend was a good one. So far so good I think...

Yesterday we started with some arts and crafts with Sofia in the morning. Now generally speaking...I'm not the best with arts and crafts except when it comes to scrapbooking, but we pulled of something with some notebook paper, markers, crayons and stickers. She had a good time making Papi's art but when it came to the other fathers in her life (Grand-dad, Abuelito and Tio) she was less than thrilled to keep doing it.  But it got done and that's what matters!

Later that day after we finally took care of our bedroom and bathroom area we as a family of three got dressed and decided to do some family photos. I have been thinking about adding some more photos of us in our whole house and this was a good start to them all. Now...I only have a majority of Juan/Sofia pictures in this post and just one of the whole family to show you. Why is that? Well...

1. This is Fathers Day so it's appropriate that it's more of him and Sofi

2. While my husband is a great father...a great photographer he is not. So my photos of Sofia were focused mainly on the bush behind us and not our faces. We'll give them a try another day.

Sofia looks like she's saying, "Hit me up on a phone call later."

This will go above our fireplace. What do you all think?
We then went to Juan's parents house. La familia decided to celebrate Fathers Day early. So we got our cards and some good cerveza and had some great fun. It was the first time in five years that we finally got it in our heads to get some citronella candles. No more sharing food with those nasty flies. The food was on point and I was happy to see my brother-in-law Ruben and my soon to be sister-in-law, Bianca. Chapito was also there with his adorable self.

Look at this adorable chunk! This picture was take a couple of days before so...his hair was different than the hair cut he got that day.

After all the fun we had there, it was after midnight. As Juan and his family celebrate Christmas right at that time, I decided why not spread out the tradition and let him have his gift. I hinted on it here at an earlier time. But when he saw his new t-shirt...he was grinning from ear to ear. He loved it. I just knew I had to find a shirt that said "Papi" instead of Daddy as I rarely hear Sofia call him that. This store at Etsy was a great find and they have so many other shirts to choose from too. Check it out!

El Rey wore his shirt with style at church (great sermon by the way) and now at this moment is relaxing in our bed with La Princesa for naptime. I'm still trying to figure out if this was a cute moment I shot but...I'll go with yes. What the plans for later? Maybe we'll go and visit my dad, but afterwards, Sofia will be going back to my in-laws to spend the week there. It will be a good time for me to get some stuff done like filling out applications for a work at home job, get a new SS card, etc... Good times right?

I hope that your dads and husbands have a wonderful Father's Day full of joy and love!

On the Road Again

This summer is going to be the start of a new life for me. How so? Well I have finally have my first car! I need to tell some backstory and how I found this opportunity.

I wasn't able to learn how to drive as a teenager from reasons being either time, money or the fact that there wasn't drivers ed in my school lame I know.. As I got older I wondered why I wasn't able to drive a car then; still getting rides from everybody to MOSTLY everywhere. Everytime I tried to drive I would either only do it once  or would have a person that was too scared and anxious to teach me (ex. Mom) The only person that hasn't been nervous about driving in the car with me is my own husband and I truly have to thank him because he has really taught me a lot and been really patient with me when driving his truck (that is a feat in itself because that truck is his baby). I mostly got experience driving with him or by myself to like the store nearby.

As I'm nearing my 30th birthday, I have decided that this year is the last year I will be without driving. The last year that I will have to explain why I'm not driving. I'm ready to be free and do the things I've always wanted to do on the road. Just a few for example...

1. I get to visit friends and family I don't normally get to.

2. I get to take Sofia and myself to important places like doctor appointments.

3. I get to take Sofia to the park and the library

4. I get to meet my photography clients where ever they need me...within reason.

5. I get to go wherever I want, whenever I want!

Lawd...Just writing that list has me plenty excited! So now it's time to tell you how I got my blessings. The first was in the form of my awesome neighbors, Jose and Kathy. I had just so happened to look outside of my house and saw their '99 Ford Taurus for sale. I instantly looked at the sky and said, "That was you, Lord. Thank you." They have been awesome in this whole car buying business.

The second blessing came in the form of my dad who is actually buying the car for me. I am so very happy that he is doing this for me. Years and years I really thought that he didn't care enough about me to get things I wanted or needed but when he did this for me...it was like my mind was wiped clean. We all have problems in life; maybe I should have just been patient when I was younger. Understood better. I dunno. But long story short-he's done a good thing for me.

So what's next? Well, I need to definitely get my license. That's first and foremost. I'll take my written test online so all I'll have to do is just go and get my driving test done.

What's that song that I want to end this with? Oh, yes! On the road again...I can't wait to get on the road again... *insert Donkey's voice here*

Sofi's Trendy Tuesday- The Top of the List (Janie and Jack)

If you guys haven't felt it yet, I gotta let you know...it's pretty much summer. Summer means watermelon, swimming and barbecues, but it also means that we don't need to wear our long sleeved shirts anymore. Sofia is...well I wouldn't say Sofia is a girly girl...nor would I say that she's a straight up tomboy. She's smack dab in the middle in my opinion. But today...we are looking in the girly girl section of trendy clothes. If you guys are looking for some adorable summer tops, I recommend going to Janie and Jack. Just one look at these shirts above just had me SQUEEing with delight. I could definitely see La Princesa in these and knowing her...she'd rock them too!

Putt Putting at Kearrah's 10th Birthday Party!

Is this real? Is this truly the young lady that has brightened my life since she was an itty bitty? Yes, it's truly Kearrah! I had explained earlier that she was turning 10 on the 5th and now we celebrated it at Putt Putt in Arlington. The plan was to play some games and some miniature golf...keyword is WAS.

When we arrived, there was a large rain cloud above us. My iphone had told me a tiny little fib about there not being rain until about seven. Alas...couldn't rely on my phone this time:

It poured.

Rain teased us saying "Nope, you're not going to golf today." It was a huge bummer.

Might have been a huge bummer...but you couldn't tell when Kearrah came in for her party. She was all smiles. It was Sofia's first time going to Putt Putt and she was a busy body! I couldn't keep up with her and neither could the others. Time to keep a closer eye on her. I'm glad she had fun though. She loved the race car games the best and kept going on them over and over again even though she

The party area was cute for a small party and they put such good detailing for Kearrah's day. Adorable as all get out too. You guys know I had to snap some stuff!

It was a small crowd for Kearrah's birthday but she didn't mind at all. She was just glad to have somebody there and really had a blast. You can tell from these pictures taken here.

Sofi waiting for cake

Ooh Lawd...the sass is strong with these two

Her gifts from my mom

Correction...the sass is strong with all four.

We stayed at Putt Putt for four hours...yeah it's a long time but as long as my little cousin had a great time playing games and getting tickets then it was worth it. Personally I had fun and I hope that Kearrah has many more fun parties like this. They really make her day.
